Agricultural waste is waste that is produced on a farm and is produced through farming activities.

This means if you carry out non-agricultural activities on your farm, such as run a bed and breakfast or a tea room, the waste from that activity will not be agricultural waste, however waste controls still apply, see Duty of Care for more information.

Agricultural activities includes land used for:

  • horticulture
  • fruit growing
  • seed growing
  • dairy farming
  • livestock breeding and keeping
  • grazing land
  • meadow land
  • osier land
  • market gardens
  • nursery grounds
  • woodlands, if they are ancillary to the use of the land for other agricultural purposes.
